Teach the Teacher
Fruits and vegetables grown conventionally are regularly harvested before peak ripeness to allow them to travel better. Often, these shipments travel more than 1000 miles before landing on a grocery store shelf.
Discuss how long specific varieties maintain their peak ripeness based on your research in the Intermediate Lesson and determine the suitable distance those could travel and still taste their best. How would this affect the global food system? How might it affect regional food production?
